https://ejournal.iainkerinci.ac.id/index.php/bkpi/article/view/5328

Academic burnout is a common issue among students, characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment due to excessive academic pressure. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group counseling services using the thought-stopping technique in reducing academic burnout among eighth-grade students at SMP Swasta PAB 3 Saentis. Using a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test post-test control group design, the study involved 20 students identified as having high to very high levels of academic burnout. Ten students were assigned to the experimental group, receiving group counseling with thought-stopping techniques, while the remaining ten in the control group received only informational services. Data were collected through a validated Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Two Independent Samples Test. The results showed a significant decrease in academic burnout scores in the experimental group (Wilcoxon Z = -2.805, p = 0.005), with most post-test scores falling into the low and moderate categories, while the control group remained in the moderate to high range. The difference between the two groups was also statistically significant (Kolmogorov-Smirnov Z = 1.789, p = 0.003). These findings indicate that group counseling using thought-stopping is effective in reducing academic burnout. The study suggests that incorporating the thought-stopping technique into school counseling programs can effectively enhance students' psychological well-being and reduce academic burnout. Practical implications include recommendations for school counselors to adopt thought-stopping as an intervention to address negative thought patterns contributing to burnout.
Siti Aisyah Br PurbaFauziah Nasution

Final-year students faced various challenges in completing their theses, which frequently causes anxiety and stress. This study aims to determine the level of resilience and encourage final year students in completing their thesis. The data collection technique in this study was a non-test in the form of a questionnaire with a resilience assessment scale with 106 higher education students as subjects. The results show that students with higher self-resilience tend to have good performance in problem solving. Mental health training as a treatment for students is an important means to complete a thesis with factors such as perfection, time management, motivation, and prioritization. This training also has a positive impact on students' thinking, encouraging a more positive mind-set, focusing on their goals to complete their final assignment, and helping students avoid things caused by procrastination. The recommendation from this research is the need for a structured mental health training program and increased support from lecturers and peers to help students face academic challenges.
Ni Luh Sakinah NurainiTitis Angga RiniPuri Selfi CholifahDavina AureliaMisye Agustin Tri WahyuniRifdah Afifah

https://ejournal.iainkerinci.ac.id/index.php/bkpi/article/view/5143

This study aims to examine the contribution of self-regulated learning and peer social support to academic procrastination among university students in completing their thesis. Meanwhile, peer social support provides emotional and motivational assistance that can help students overcome academic stress and maintain their commitment to completing tasks. Using a quantitative correlational design, the research population is 2353 students of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training which was found to be a sample of 100 students who used the Taro Yamane formula. The analysis of this study uses description, simple and multiple linear regression. The analysis of research data was conducted using the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 28 For Windows application. The results showed that both self-regulated learning and peer social support significantly contribute to reducing academic procrastination, with self-regulated learning having a stronger influence. Furthermore, the combination of these two factors explained a substantial portion of the variance in procrastination behaviour. The findings suggest that interventions aimed at improving students’ self-regulation skills and fostering supportive peer networks can effectively decrease procrastination and enhance thesis completion rates. This study provides valuable insights for educators and academic counsellors in designing comprehensive support programs to assist students in overcoming procrastination challenges
RohaniMhd SubhanSuci HabibahNurhafiza NurhafizaAmelia Ananda

https://ejournal.iainkerinci.ac.id/index.php/bkpi/article/view/5471

Academic stress is a prevalent psychological concern among junior high school students, particularly due to the increasing academic demands and the widespread adoption of online learning. This form of stress can impair students' academic performance and compromise their psychological well-being. Consequently, there is a growing need for counseling interventions that are both effective and adaptable to the digital learning environment. The present study examines the effectiveness of online Solution Focused Brief Counseling (SFBC) in alleviating academic stress in junior high school students. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group structure, the study involved 10 students assigned to either an experimental or a control group. The experimental group participated in four online counseling sessions, while the control group received no intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Given the small sample size, non-parametric analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test to compare pretest and posttest scores in the experimental group. Results demonstrated a significant reduction in academic stress scores within the experimental group, decreasing from an average of 120.8 to 101.6, whereas the control group exhibited an increase from 128.6 to 131.8. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test yielded a statistically significant result (p = 0.042, p < 0.05), confirming the efficacy of the intervention. These findings suggest that online SFBC represents a viable and effective counseling strategy for mitigating academic stress among junior high school students, offering a flexible psychological intervention well-suited to the demands of distance learning and digital education contexts
Andri OktavianasJuntika NurihsanIpah Saripah
