Character education based on local wisdom emerges as a strategic solution to develop an integral generation that meets the needs of local communities. This study explores the Menta Gumeng tradition in Kerinci, a traditional healing practice rich in social, spiritual, and ecological values. This research employs a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach through participatory observation and in-depth interviews. The findings reveal that the Menta Gumeng tradition incorporates character education values, such as religiosity reflected in prayers and rituals, responsibility in performing the tradition, communal cooperation (gotong royong) through collective participation, and respect for nature through the sustainable use of natural resources. The tradition not only addresses physical ailments but also restores the balance of body and soul, strengthens social solidarity, and fosters ecological awareness. Integrating these values into character education reinforces local cultural identity, making it relevant in addressing the challenges of modernisation.

Ravico, Anggi Desviana Siregar, Nuzulur Ramadhona Copyright (c) 2025 The Character Journal Of General and Character Education https://ejournal.iainkerinci.ac.id/index.php/crt/article/view/4728 Mon, 30 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Nilai-nilai Pendidikan Karakter Tanggung Jawab dalam Adat Naik Gelar Setelah Menikah di Tanjung Pauh https://ejournal.iainkerinci.ac.id/index.php/crt/article/view/4912
All humans must have a responsible character, if they are the head of the household they will be responsible for all matters relating to the family.
