Abstract

The quality of education is a development target in the field of national education and is an integral part of efforts to improve the quality of Indonesian people as a whole. In order to realize this ideal function, madrasas must always orient themselves so that they remain in service and are able to appear meaningful, amid demands for mastery of science and technology and appreciation religious values. In reality, the government's efforts have not been significant enough to improve the quality of education. This study aims to analyze the basic strategies for improving the quality of MTsN in Kerinci District. This study used a qualitative naturalistic research approach with subjects determined by snow ball sampling. The stages of data collection in this study were (1) interviews, (2) observation and (3) documentation. In analyzing the research data, this study used the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) approach or model. The results of the research conceptually suggest several madrasah-based quality improvement strategies in Kerinci district, particularly for MTsN Semerah, MTsN Pendung Tengah Penawar, and MTsN Seleman. The basic strategy for continuous quality improvement is to improve the quality of educators and educational staff, improve the quality of madrasa administrative services, improve the quality of madrasah facilities and infrastructure including learning resources.
