Abstract

This study aims to see the use of picture storybook media in developing children's reading skills in Group A of Muslimat NU 161 Miftahul Ulum Kebonagung Kindergarten. The research method used is the class action research method of the Kemmis and Taggart design model using 2 cycles and each cycle uses four steps, namely:   planning, action, observation and reflection. The participants in this study were 20 children in class A aged 4-5 years. This study uses qualitative and quantitative approaches and to get a percentage using a Likert scale. The results of the research on the use of picture storybook media in developing children's reading skills are increasing. seen in the increase in percentage in the pre-cycle the success indicator is very low, which only reaches 20%. then cycle I indicators of children's success have increased but still need improvement, reaching 60% and increasing again in cycle II to 75% with an increase rate of 15% from the previous cycle. So it can be concluded that the use of picture storybook media can develop children's reading skills.
