Abstract

This research is motivated by the emergence of conservative, intolerant, and extremist religious views in responding to local wisdom, as well as a lack of national commitment. The objectives of this study are: (1) to describe the current condition of Pesantren Azzakariyah in Muara Panco Village, Renah Pembarap District, Merangin Regency; (2) to analyze the implementation of religious moderation values at the pesantren; and (3) to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of religious moderation values. This study employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is conducted using triangulation techniques. The findings indicate that: (1) religious moderation at Pesantren Azzakariyah is reflected in attitudes of tasamuh (tolerance), national commitment, al-musawah (anti-discrimination and non-violence), and acceptance of local culture; (2) the implementation of religious moderation values is carried out in three stages: planning, implementation—through formal learning in the madrasah, classical Islamic book studies (kitab kuning), Arabic language training, and extracurricular activities—and evaluation; This study recommends strengthening collaboration between pesantren and the local community in promoting religious moderation values, as well as optimizing the role of digital media as an inclusive and tolerant religious education platform.
