Digital Archiving Policy

Al Fiddhoh: Journal of Banking, Insurance, and Finance is committed to preserving its published scholarly content and ensuring continued access to research articles over the long term. The journal recognizes that digital preservation is essential for maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record and supporting the sustainable dissemination of academic knowledge.

1. Digital Preservation

The journal endeavors to maintain the long-term preservation, integrity, and accessibility of all published articles, including their associated metadata and publication information. Digital preservation measures are intended to reduce the risk of content loss resulting from technical failures, changes in publishing platforms, or other unforeseen circumstances.

The journal uses its online journal platform to maintain and provide access to published content. Additional preservation arrangements may be implemented in accordance with the journal's technical capabilities and institutional policies.

2. Archiving and Preservation Systems

To support the preservation and availability of its published content, Al Fiddhoh may use the following archiving mechanisms, subject to actual participation and technical availability:

  • Open Journal Systems (OJS): The journal's publishing platform provides online access to published articles and their associated metadata. Platform hosting alone does not constitute a guarantee of independent long-term preservation.

  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): Where configured and supported, LOCKSS enables participating libraries to preserve journal content through distributed copies.

  • CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): Where the journal participates, CLOCKSS provides a dark-archive preservation mechanism designed to enable access under specified trigger conditions.

  • Institutional repositories: Published articles may be deposited in eligible institutional repositories in accordance with the journal's copyright and licensing policies.

  • Other recognized digital repositories: The journal may adopt additional preservation services or repositories to strengthen the long-term availability of its publications.

The journal will identify the preservation services it actually uses on its official website and update this information when its arrangements change.

3. Backup and Data Security

The journal seeks to protect its digital content and publication records through appropriate backup and data-management procedures. These measures may include regular backups of published files, article metadata, and relevant publishing records, depending on the technical arrangements provided by the journal or its hosting institution.

Access controls and other reasonable security measures should be implemented to reduce the risk of unauthorized modification, accidental deletion, or loss of publication data.

Backup arrangements are intended to support recovery in the event of technical disruption; they do not replace independent long-term digital preservation.

4. Long-Term Accessibility

Al Fiddhoh aims to maintain stable access to its published articles through its official journal website. The journal will make reasonable efforts to preserve article files, bibliographic metadata, publication dates, author information, and persistent identifiers, where applicable.

If the journal's website or publishing platform changes, the journal will seek to maintain continuity of access and preserve links to previously published content wherever technically feasible.

5. Author Self-Archiving

Authors may deposit and share their published articles through institutional repositories, personal academic websites, or other permitted platforms, subject to the journal's copyright policy and applicable licensing terms.

Where required or appropriate, authors should provide the original publication details, the article's persistent identifier (such as a DOI, if available), and a link to the version published by Al Fiddhoh.

Any deposited version must comply with the applicable copyright and license conditions.

6. Access in the Event of Journal Discontinuation

If Al Fiddhoh ceases publication or its website becomes permanently unavailable, the journal will make reasonable efforts to preserve access to its published scholarly content through available institutional repositories, recognized digital preservation services, or other suitable archival arrangements.

The specific preservation and access procedures will depend on the journal's institutional agreements, technical resources, and participation in external archiving services.

7. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure that it remains appropriate to the journal's publishing infrastructure, digital preservation practices, and applicable scholarly publishing standards.

Al Fiddhoh is committed to strengthening its digital preservation arrangements to support the continuity, authenticity, and long-term accessibility of its scholarly publications.
