Post-Publication Discussion
Scholarly discussion does not end at publication. Edumatika : Jurnal Riset Pendidikan Matematika welcomes constructive comments, questions, and critiques of its published articles, and handles them fairly and transparently.
1. Channels for Discussion
Comments to the editor. Send substantive comments or critiques about a published article to the editorial office.
PubPeer. Comment publicly on any article with a DOI at pubpeer.com. The journal monitors comments on its articles.
Contacting the authors. Questions about methods or data may be addressed directly to the corresponding author named in the article.
Reporting misconduct. Concerns about possible misconduct follow a separate, confidential procedure.
2. Submitting a Comment
Comments should be sent to [email protected] and include:
- the title and DOI of the article concerned;
- the comment itself, focusing on the scholarly content (such as the methods, data, analysis, or interpretation), supported by evidence or references; and
- the commenter’s name, affiliation, and any conflict of interest.
Comments should be respectful and constructive. Personal attacks, defamatory statements, and comments unrelated to the article are not considered.
3. How Comments Are Handled
1. Assessment: the editor assesses whether the comment raises a substantive scholarly issue.
2. Author response: substantive comments are sent to the authors, who are invited to respond.
3. Outcome: the editor informs the commenter of the outcome, which may include publication of the comment and reply. Where the discussion reveals an error, the journal publishes a correction; where it raises serious concerns about the reliability of the work, the journal follows the Correction and Retraction and Research Misconduct policies.
In line with ICMJE recommendations, substantive comments that contribute to scholarly debate may, at the editor’s discretion, be published as a Comment linked to the original article, together with the authors’ Reply. Comments are assessed by the editor and, where needed, by an independent reviewer; they are not considered original research articles. The authors’ reply is published alongside the comment, or the comment is published with a note if the authors decline to reply.
4. Principles
- Authors always have the right to respond to criticism of their work.
- The identity of commenters is kept confidential if they request it, but anonymous comments must be supported by verifiable evidence.
- Editors with a conflict of interest do not handle the comment.
