Post-Publication Discussion

Al Dzahab: Journal of Economics, Management, Business and Accounting recognizes that scholarly communication continues beyond the publication of an article. The journal encourages constructive academic discussion, critical evaluation, and the exchange of evidence-based perspectives on published research to promote the advancement of knowledge in economics, management, business, and accounting.

The journal provides a mechanism for readers, researchers, and other members of the academic community to raise questions, submit scholarly comments, and identify potential errors or concerns regarding published articles. All post-publication discussions must be conducted respectfully, professionally, and in accordance with the principles of academic integrity and publication ethics.

1. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion

Post-publication discussions may address, but are not limited to:

  • Theoretical arguments, conceptual frameworks, and interpretations presented in published articles.

  • Research design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation of findings.

  • The validity, reliability, reproducibility, and implications of reported results.

  • Relevant literature that may have been overlooked or requires further consideration.

  • Errors, inconsistencies, or ambiguities that may affect the interpretation of a published article.

  • Concerns regarding research integrity, publication ethics, or compliance with applicable research standards.

Comments should provide a clear scholarly contribution and be supported by relevant evidence, references, or reasoned arguments.

2. Submission of Comments and Responses

Readers who wish to comment on a published article may contact the journal's editorial office through its official communication channels. Submissions should identify the article concerned, clearly explain the issue being discussed, and provide supporting evidence or references where appropriate.

Authors of the original article may be invited to respond to substantive comments or criticisms. The journal may facilitate an exchange between the commenter and the original authors when this is considered beneficial to scholarly discussion.

The editorial team may request revisions, clarification, or additional supporting information before deciding whether a comment or response is suitable for publication.

3. Editorial Assessment

All proposed post-publication comments and responses are subject to editorial assessment. The editor will evaluate their relevance, scholarly merit, accuracy, clarity, and compliance with publication ethics.

Where necessary, the editor may seek advice from independent experts or invite external peer review. The journal may decline submissions that are unsupported, irrelevant, repetitive, defamatory, personally abusive, or inconsistent with its editorial policies.

Editorial decisions will be based on the academic value and appropriateness of the submission rather than the author's institutional affiliation, professional status, or viewpoint.

4. Publication of Comments and Responses

Accepted comments and responses may be published on the journal's website or through another appropriate scholarly publication format. Where feasible, the journal will establish a clear link between the discussion and the original article to facilitate access and preserve the scholarly record.

Published comments and responses may be assigned appropriate bibliographic information, including a DOI where applicable and available under the journal's publishing arrangements.

The publication of a comment does not automatically imply that the journal endorses every argument presented. Authors of comments and responses remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their contributions.

5. Corrections and Research Integrity Concerns

Post-publication discussion is distinct from the formal handling of errors or allegations of research misconduct.

If a comment identifies a potential factual error, methodological problem, ethical violation, or other concern that may affect the reliability of a published article, the journal will assess the matter in accordance with its relevant editorial and publication ethics policies.

Depending on the findings, the journal may publish a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction. Serious allegations of research misconduct will be handled through the journal's established procedures for investigating research integrity concerns.

The journal will not treat criticism or disagreement alone as evidence of misconduct. Any corrective action must be proportionate to the issue and supported by appropriate evidence.

6. Ethical Standards for Participants

All participants in post-publication discussions must maintain professional and respectful communication. Comments must focus on the scholarly content and evidence rather than personal characteristics or attacks against authors, reviewers, or other individuals.

Participants must disclose relevant conflicts of interest and respect applicable confidentiality, privacy, copyright, and research ethics requirements. Submissions must not contain fabricated evidence, knowingly false allegations, harassment, or other forms of unethical conduct.

The journal reserves the right to reject or remove content that violates its policies or applicable legal requirements, while maintaining an appropriate record of editorial decisions where necessary.

7. Transparency and Accountability

Al Dzahab is committed to facilitating responsible post-publication dialogue and maintaining the accuracy and credibility of the scholarly record. The journal will handle comments, responses, and concerns fairly and transparently, while protecting the confidentiality of individuals involved where appropriate.

Through this policy, the journal aims to encourage constructive academic debate, improve the quality of published research, and support the continuous development of knowledge in economics, management, business, and accounting.

This policy is informed by recognized publication ethics principles, including guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
